Meat Us

Our Mission:

It was right after we sat down at the Lick's Hamburgers for lunch one day in October of 2014 that we decided we were going to make this an objective; to taste and review all the burgers in Toronto and share those experiences with fellow foodies. We set out on our delicious adventure, tasting and trying the best burgers Toronto has to offer. We want you to read, review, interact with us every step of the way. Our goal is to generate need-worthy recommendations and provide a general synopsis of Toronto's best burgers. Together, they are setting out to taste Toronto's burgers one burger at a time!

Andrew Hockridge

My name is Andrew. People call me Drew for short. Feel free to call me whatever you like. Just don't call me late for dinner.

I grew up in Scarborough, ON, and for as long as I can remember, I enjoyed eating hamburgers. Sliders, BBQ, hickory smoked, cheese burgers...you name it. If it had burger in its name, I would devour it. It became a monthly routine for meals.

As simple as it could get, I used to grab some fresh lean ground beef and fry up a burger, adding all kinds of toppings on it. I impressed myself every time. So why don't I have a cooking show you ask? Well, I'm actually a terrible cook. The best I can do is 1-minute instant rice, straight from the microwave.

It was Grade 3 when I first met Mark. We both attended the same school all the way up until college. That year, we both went our separate ways although still keeping in touch with each other. I studied Journalism up in North Bay, but a career in that field would require endless searching - something I wasn't prepared to do. So I moved back down to Toronto looking for possibilities.

Mark Avila

Oh haii~ my name is Mark. I go by Mark. Feel free to just call me Mark. #EastYorkRepresent I grew up in East York, but spend most of my time in Scarborough. Cause it’s more fun in Scarborough!

Aside from Sushi, burgers are my heart & soul. If I could live off the stuff, I would. From homemade barbecue hamburgers to the finest and sometimes priciest, you will never see me and a hamburger apart. Doing BurgerTours, I never realized how different and diverse a hamburger could be. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been exposed to the traditional fast food burger, but now I can truly appreciate the new ways I can indulge in this traditional, but growing commodity.

From my posts you will find that I always try to choose burgers that are outside the norm of the traditional burger. The ingredients are an important factor for me when making a decision, because it’s a good opportunity to discover new flavors that I would never thought would be possible to incorporate into a burger. Plus, it’s always nice to see burger joints across Toronto showcasing their creativity and fusing the diverse flavors from their own areas.

Meeting Andrew in the third grade back in 2000 I think it was... and being friends for over 15 years, starting BurgerTours was probably one of the most spontaneous things that we’ve ever done. Finishing up my bachelors degree in Human Geography, and Andrew moving back to Toronto after completing his post grad in North Bay we suddenly realized that we had a lot of free time on our hands. Hopefully, you will find BurgerTours insightful and useful when looking for your new/favourite burger joint.
