Hello and welcome to another addition of #BurgerTours, the exclusive resource for eating and tagging Toronto's best tasting burgers! Thanks for clicking the link and for reading this far into this review but don't turn away just yet, because we have another burger joint to review!
After months of anticipation, the wait was finally over. We had The Burger Cellar on our radar for nearly half a year and we never really got around to dining at this fine establishment. Well, as a matter of fact, we waited nearly half a year for the right time. This was our 2-year milestone. It had been 2 years since our first BurgerTour to Five Guys. We needed to celebrate it in the best possible outcome that we could. And by choosing the right time, we also chose the right place.
The restaurant/bar/pub is located just north of Lawrence on Yonge Street. We decided to walk from Eglinton just for the sights. We had seen the outside of The Burger Cellar before, but never knew what the inside looked like. It was still the biggest mystery to Mark and myself. We walked in the front doors and right away I was in awe of my surroundings. It was just like entering your neighbourhood bar where everyone knew each other. Couples were dining, as well as a few families. And sitting along the bar were a few men and women having a glass of beer, while eyes were locked onto the TV screens that sat above. This was a little surprising seeing how it was almost 3pm in the afternoon when we arrived.
We were quickly greeted by one of the waiters and sat at a table just barely big enough for our meals. The waiter went to go grab some menus and returned to take our drink orders. This was a special occasion for #BurgerTours so Mark and I decided to order a round of beers for the celebration - our first alcoholic burger review! Yay!

When the burger arrived, I was once again in awe. This looked like it was going to be a really great tasting burger. The first bite I had got nearly every topping in one bite. The taste was unique. Everything was well balanced. The beef was soft and cooked to perfection, and the bacon and BBQ sauce were my favourite additions to this burger. I don't think it would have been the same if lacking those two flavourful ingredients. The beer-battered onion ring was also a surprise. I didn't expect the onion ring to clash so well amongst the leading flavours of the BBQ sauce and the apple wood bacon. Needless to say, I was satisfied and left with a full stomach.
Overall, The Burger Cellar has everything, and more. I was taking away by the atmosphere of the restaurant and the friendly service we encountered. I don't think we could have chosen a better place to celebrate our 2-year milestone.

Over the past two years, we have expanded our reach to three cities across Canada, and one in the United States. Branching out to new locales made me appreciate the effort that these burger joints have gone to incorporate local flavours to satisfy the palate. Seeing that this tour is a huge milestone for Andrew and me, we decided to take #BurgerTours to a restaurant that elevates both flavour and sophistication to a whole new level. For this special two year review, we take you to The Burger Cellar.
The Burger Cellar is one of those joints that we have been eyeing for quite some time, but wanted to visit only for this special occasion. Located along Yonge Street just north of Lawrence, this joint brings the burger dining experience to a more refined, yet casual experience. They offer an assortment of Canadian style hamburgers, sandwiches, and several vegetarian options, all of which revolve around the concept of comfort food.
Browsing through their menu, I was pleased to see a wide selection of burger options, along with an array combination of meat choices, as well. Among them were AAA Natural Black Angus Beef, Turkey, Prime Grade Beef, and Certified Organic Bison. I was torn between two choices, the Duck Dynasty or Alans Famous Burger. Why the Duck Dynasty? Duck is one of those meat options that never crossed my mind would make a good inclusion into a burger, especially as the main protein. Since I’ve already tried a wide range of meat options from several joints we’ve visited in the past, why not add Duck to the list!
The Duck Dynasty consists of a BBQ Duck Confit, Coleslaw, Cheddar Cheese, Crispy Onions, and Chipotle Mayo. Taking that first bite you meet the crispy onions, followed by the light sweetness of the Duck Confit with the contrasting sour taste of the layered coleslaw. Combining flavours of both sweet and sour, the Duck Dynasty is one burger to satisfy any taste bud.

Overall, this visit was one of my recent favourites. From the bold and distinct flavour combinations, to the unique menu options, the Burger Cellar did not disappoint in delivering a sophisticated approach to comfort food. If you ever find yourself in midtown Toronto, and looking to spend a few extra dollars on a refined, yet appetizing meal, the Burger Cellar will definitely make your money’s worth.
