Drew's Review

Good to hear. So what else is going on?

Nice. So you doin alright?

Thanks but how are YOU?

We return this year for a fresh burger joint. A joint I have never heard before. For this tour, we decided to mix things up a bit with Mark choosing the place, leaving me guessing what he chose. From a simple Google search the night before, as Mark stated to me later during the review, Mark chose Black Sheep Burger Co., a food delivery service that specializes in gourmet burgers, poutines, salads and treats for takeout and delivery.

Opening specifically during the 2020 pandemic, Black Sheep Burger Co. has six locations in the GTA with services including Mississauga and Woodbridge. Hungry guests can find Black Sheep on Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats. When Mark unveiled the Black Sheep bag, I was already impressed. The white boxed with the signature Black Sheep were simple, yet unique. It’s likely what you would find from a high-end burger joint.

After opening the box, I saw my order which looked to be a huge meal, with a giant burger sitting in the middle and an order of fries on the side. My order was the Simple Shepherd, which came with a beef patty and toppings consisting of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and their special homemade burger sauce. Who knew something so simple could be so large?

The first bite was good. It was juicy and very flavourful. The toppings were exactly the right mixture for this burger. The meat was tender and succulent. Each bite greater than the previous one and by the end, was craving more. The fries were golden, but not too crispy. A little cooled at the time of its arrival. There was nothing really to complain about, except the number of fries we had gotten was a little too much for either of us to finish. We were already a little full from the burger itself, and the portion of the fries was a little excessive, especially when they’re the big and chunky kind.

*SPECIAL COOKIE REVIEW*

We also received a complementary chocolate chip cookie as part of our order, free of charge. The cookies was still a bit warm and the chocolate chips were gooey. The cookie was soft and tender and each bite was mouth watering. It was a perfect fresh baked cookie and one you can find at any bakery; however, it was a nice pleasant surprise and a welcome end to a delicious meal.

Overall, Black Sheep Burger Co. had just the tight amount of flavour and deliciousness to give it a second try. The burger was well cooked and had plenty to offer. More delicious options await from their vast menu and I’m hoping I can order from them again in the future. With something so delicious ready to order wherever you may be in the GTA, Black Sheep Burger Co. is here to impress and satisfy Toronto burger lovers, especially during a time when we could really use some comfort and good fortune.

Mark's Review

Happy New Year, everyone! By the time of this review, however, we’re well into 2022. But, for the meantime hope you enjoy this first burger tour of the new year.

We wanted to spice things up a little with this burger tour. Instead of choosing a place collectively, I thought of giving Andrew a nice surprise and picking a joint out of random. It was actually quite hard finding a place we haven’t done before, since it feels like we’ve already tagged every burger joint in the city. Luckily, I was able to locate one that was new and offered uber eats delivery. So, for this burger tour we give you… Black Sheep Burger Co.

Searching this joint online, I found many positive reviews which ultimately sealed my decision.

The Veggie Fiesta Burger/Photo by Mark Avila

From hefty beef patty burgers to the more healthy veggie and beyond meat options, their burgers definitely looked appetizing. What caught my eye though were the sliders. They offer a set of three beef sliders or veggie, or a box of nine of their signature sliders. But, thats for another time.

I was torn between the beyond meat or the veggie option, but looking more closely at the veggie I had to go for that. The Veggie Fiesta Burger- a black bean patty layered with lettuce, and topped with a generous serving of pico de Gallo and guacamole.

First impressions… it was beautifully made. Almost didn’t want to take a bite out of it. But, for the sake of this review I had no choice. Taking the first bite.. I can guarantee that I had a full blown fiesta in my mouth. It tasted like a taco in burger form. The pico de Gallo was fresh and gave a nice touch of citrus flavour to the burger. The black bean patty was soft and savoury, and probably the best I’ve had in a long time.

Overall, the Veggie Fiesta was not a let down. Not gonna lie, I could’ve probably eaten a second one.
